In the artist's words

Mersedes Mein is a contemporary artist born in Estonia and based in Italy. Her artistic practice focuses on textured abstract painting, in which material, form and colour become means of expressing emotions and exploring the relationship between the inner world and the surrounding space.

In 2024, Mersedes completed her studies in Textural Painting at the International School of Modern Creativity, where she developed practical skills in textured painting and the creation of textured artworks for interior spaces.

Following her training, she continued to explore the possibilities of different materials, experimenting with volume, relief and colour while gradually developing her own artistic style. Structural paste plays a central role in her work, allowing her to create layered surfaces, expressive textures and a strong sense of depth.

Inspired by the work of Alberto Burri and his approach to material as an independent means of artistic expression, Mersedes explores the possibilities of texture beyond traditional painting. At the same time, she seeks to develop her own visual language through the interaction of texture, colour and form.

Her creative process is intuitive. Different materials, lines and colour combinations gradually come together to form compositions that bring movement and balance, expressiveness and harmony into dialogue.

Each of Mersedes’ paintings is a unique artwork created using acrylics, structural paste and mixed media. Her works invite viewers to explore intricate details, discover new visual sensations and develop their own interpretations.

Through texture, depth and colour, Mersedes seeks to create artworks that interact with their surroundings and become an integral part of the atmosphere of a space.

Her works have been presented in group exhibitions in Italy and internationally, including exhibitions in Milan, Piedmont and Athens.
